I want to take this opportunity first to let you know that after much thought and consideration, I am running for a position on the Gunter ISD school board in the upcoming Spring elections. Why Me
Strong Ties to the Area
My wife Debra and I have been property owners in Gunter for seven years. We’ve been business owners in Gunter since 2019 and residents since 2021. We have two daughters living with us; one is a college student in the infant stages of her career, and the other is a Sophomore at Gunter High School. I’ve been a resident of North Texas for nearly 50 years and have witnessed first-hand how growth can impact a community positively and negatively.
Today, my wife and I own and operate several successful businesses, including e-commerce and two brick-and-mortar businesses. One is a printing company just down the road in neighboring Celina, and the other is an event center right here in Gunter.

Lifetime of Community Service
I’ve been in public service in one capacity or another since 2007, when I began work as a firefighter/paramedic with Dallas Fire-Rescue. Around that same time, I built a business where raising money for the men and women in the fire service is its core. That business continues to grow and has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars back to fire stations across the country. Outside of my professional career, I am continuously involved in the communities I live and work. Currently, I serve as a board member of the Celina Chamber of Commerce and the Celina Education Foundation, working on the Programs Committee. I’ve also graduated from Leadership Celina Class 1 and currently serve on the steering committee for Leadership Celina Class 2.

Why I'm Running For
School Board
Growth at any level within a community can be challenging. Growth at the rate we’re experiencing in and around our area can either be a blessing or catastrophic, impacting both the city and the school district. The direction we go weighs heavily on the individuals we elect into leadership positions in our community. Failing to elect individuals with experience and success in team-building, creative growth, and leadership will determine our future.
I believe wholeheartedly that families choose to live in certain areas for two reasons; safety and schools. As a resident of Gunter with a daughter attending Gunter High School, I, like you, have a vested interest in ensuring both of these reasons are not just met but exceeded.
The quality of our children's education is directly related to the quality of our teachers and staff. Here in Gunter, we are fortunate to have the teachers and staff we do. As our town grows, the challenge for our district will be maintaining that same level of high-quality educators. Attracting level 10 talent requires level 10 opportunities. Therefore we will need to be creative in our hiring processes and competitive in the opportunities we offer in order to maintain the level of educators and education we’ve come to expect from our schools.
Perception is reality. If our community perceives something to be true, it might as well be. As we grow, full transparency of the decisions that affect our school district is critical to the relationship between our district and the district's customers, you and me. How our district delivers this information should be clear and concise, leveraging the same media our community uses. Burying information deep in difficult-to-navigate websites is no longer the answer. I also understand that there are laws that restrict or make how information is shared more challenging than it probably should be. I look forward to taking on this challenge so that our community is an informed community.
As much as we'd like to see every Gunter graduate attend the best colleges and universities, unfortunately this is not a realistic expectation of our time. Every year students all over the country are left standing after graduation with a rolled up diploma and a lack of skills or direction. I am a massive advocate of expanding our CTE programs that develop marketable skills in our youth so that they will have a solid foundation of skills to build on when they graduate.
Right now is a critical time in the growth of our community. We need individuals with a track record of creativity, leadership, and success to ensure that Gunter ISD continues to be the school district we expect and our children deserve.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. When you vote this Spring, I hope you’ll consider voting for me and allow me to serve you and our community as a trustee on the Gunter ISD School Board. Thank you, and God bless.

My Goals If Elected
Maintain a high level of safety and security for our students, teachers and staff
Create hiring processes and Level 10 opportunities that attract Level 10 educators
Evaluate and reconsider the way information is passed from the school district to the community
Expand our CTE programs that develop marketable skills for our students that may not have the opportunity to attend college
